If repairs are necessary, they can be taken care of conveniently through any GM dealership across the United States and Canada. Virtually every mechanical, electrical and electronic component of your vehicle is covered against failure even if it results from "wear and tear" (applicable in the event an orginal or like replacement part is unable to function in normal service). You're covered for parts and labor on:

Major Guard provides 24-hour-a-day roadside assistance anywhere in the United States and Canada by calling our toll-free number for:

  • Flat tire change
  • Towing

checkmark Alternate Transportation
If your vehicle is repaired under Major Guard, you're covered for alternate transportation. Major Guard will pay the cost to rent a replacement vehicle or for public transportation (some limits apply) when:

  • Two or more manufacturer's labor time guide hours are required for the repair, or
  • Your vehicle is not drivable and must be kept overnight

checkmark Trip Interruption
If you are on a trip more than 100 miles from home and haven't reached your destination, Major Guard will reimburse you up to $150 per day ($750 maximum) for unplanned hotel and/or restaurant expenses incurred if a covered component fails and requires more than a day to repair. All work must be completed at a licensed repair facility. No deductible will apply to the lodging and meal allowance. A deductible (if any) will apply to the vehicle repair. Original receipts must be provided. This coverage will come into effect after the Manufacturer's coverage expires.

Choose the Major Guard term best for your situation. Coverage is offered based on years of anticipated ownership and annual mileage driven. Deductible choices are available from $0 to $200, meaning you can limit or virtually eliminate unanticipated out-of-pocket expenses.

Major Guard can be purchased at any time during the new vehicle warranty period; however, the earlier you buy, the better the value. You can even make Major Guard part of your monthly payment. Repair paperwork is gone too, because everything is taken care of by your GM dealer. You may also enhance your vehicle's value because if you sell it during the term, Major Guard can be transferred to the new owner for a small administrative fee.

Covered Parts:

  • It's as simple as this: If it's not on the very short list of what's not covered, it's covered!
  • Parts used for Major Guard-covered repairs may be new, used, or re-manufactured.
  • For years, millions of Major Guard customers have known that, "From the engine to the trunk lock, if a part breaks - even if it results from wear and tear (applicable in the event an orginal or like replacement part is unable to function in normal service) - and it's not on the list of the few items not covered, Major Guard will pay for the repair less any applicable deductible, whatever the part!"

Unless required in connection with a covered part, GMPP will not pay for: engine tune-up, suspension alignment, wheel balancing, filters, lubricants, engine coolant, drive belts, radiator hoses, heater and vacuum hoses, windshield wiper blades, air conditioning recharging, fluids, spark/glow plugs and wires, brake pads/linings and brake shoes/rotors, manual clutch disc, or vehicle manufacturer recommended maintenance services and parts. Every other part is covered!
