The 2004 Astro passenger van is available in 2WD and AWD models. The Astro
continues to offer 8 passenger seating, cruise control and power windows and door
locks. The Astro also offers extensive safety features, such as standard driver and
front passenger air bags, child security sliding door, battery rundown protection
and the PASSLock theft-deterrent system. All models are equipped with four-wheel
disc brakes and anti-lock braking system. Available options include Homelink
Universal Transmitter, front and rear seat air conditioning, rear seat audio
controls and a 6-way power driver seat. A Heavy Duty Trailering Package equipped
with an 8-Wire Trailer Harness and Frame Mounted Hitch Platform is also
available.
The 2004 Astro cargo van returns as a carryover model. It is again available in
either a 2WD or AWD configuration. The Astro is powered by a 190-hp Vortec 4300 V6
engine coupled to a four-speed automatic transmission. Various option packages are
available that include such features as an engine block heater, tilt steering,
cruise control, power windows, and trailer equipment. Other options include a
heavy-duty limited slip axle, keyless remote entry, dual reading lights, and an
AM/FM stereo with CD player. Two window configurations are offered, featuring glass
on either the rear cargo doors alone or both the rear cargo doors and side cargo
doors. Upfitter options for commercial applications are available through
dealers.
